Almond Blossoms

Made this for my nephew. New baby, new painting. Tried to make something actually pleasant for once. No existential crisis, no dark symbolism. Just flowers and sky. Very unlike me, I know. Completely ripped off Japanese prints for this one. Not even subtle about it. Branches across blue sky, flat colors, that whole thing. But hey, Monet does it and everyone calls him innovative. I do it and it's "derivative." Whatever. The baby won't care. It's hanging in my brother's place now. He says it's "too bright" for the nursery. Too bright. For a baby's room. This from the guy who wanted me to paint "something cheerful." Make up your mind, Theo. Anyway, the kid seems to like it. Or at least he stops crying when he looks at it. I'll take it.
